EUSR – Products for Drinking Water Scheme (PfDW)
WHAT IS THE PRODUCTS FOR DRINKING WATER SCHEME?
The EUSR Products for Drinking Water Scheme supports compliance with the relevant water regulations* that all chemicals, materials and components that come into contact with drinking water need to be approved and tested to confirm they will not affect the quality of the water. The scheme’s training and assessment programme has been developed in collaboration with key stakeholders including Water Companies and Water UK’s Regulation 31 Group.
The scheme is a trainer-led programme over half a day, and can only be delivered in-person.
The course provides an awareness of the requirements and is aimed at all water industry personnel involved in activities associated with drinking water, including employees in operations, developer services, capital and procurement – as well as the supply chain contractors, regulators and consultants.
The course content includes:
- Where and what the regulation applies to
- Potential consequences of not complying for customers and your company
- Importance of compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use
- Record keeping for regulatory audit purposes
*Regulation 31 of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) in England and Wales, Regulation 33 Public Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2014 and The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017

Products for Drinking Water Scheme registration is valid for three years.
